The author identifies as a cis-gendered white-Hispanic male currently using the pronouns he/him. The book is dedicated to his children, who identify as male. This story is a way to uplift the marginalized voices of his children who were afraid to speak their truth under the boot of systemic racism they experienced in their school. A school in which the color of their skin was more important than the content of their character. It is the author’s wish that children receive the message from this book that it is ok to share their truth with those in power, being either teachers, politicians, or parents.
